New Moon in Capricorn: Time to be fr
The moon moves into Capricorn on the 18th, and this might be one of my favorite lunations of 2026. But I am a bit biased, because I am a natal Capricorn moon. As much as I resent a NYR, Capricorn Szn is a great time to get your thoughts and ideas organized, and make a game plan.
This is the first new moon of the year, and we already know that the world is pregnant with anticipation of things to come. Especially in the US, things are heating up as the planets all collide in momentous and influential ways. This new moon falls under the sign of Capricorn, ruled by Saturn, thus having a large impact on the immediate future and consequential 2026.
Luna is joined by Mars (also in Capricorn) giving you the drive, desire and power to truly set momentum to your actions and decisions.
Capricorn new moon tells us that the seeds we plant this week are for the long-run. Endurance, devotion and depth are keywords for this week. New moons are where we begin an idea, we plant it in fertile soil and -over the course of the moon cycle- water and nurture it into fruition.
Usefulness, productivity and security are emphasized under Capricorn, and these notions could not be more timely. No matter how you are able to, getting involved in your local community and utilizing your personal strengths to benefit the collective could not be more important right now. Check out this post for information on the different ways you can be involved. Stay humble, stay educated, stay involved.
On a personal level, your want for change may increase this week. Saturn is the planet of structure, determination and tough love, so don’t be surprised if you feel like bunkering down and getting shit done. Now is the time to see things through; when you set your intentions for this new moon, remember to make SMART goals: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-based (if you want to read on that more, check out this link).
Consider what you were doing or working on around the Winter Solstice, as themes present there may be resurfacing and require some analyzing and organizational action. Use this time to get really honest about your aspirations and the work required for them. Capricorn has no time for daydreams; he wants to see commitment, action-oriented decisions and follow-through. If you cannot remain disciplined, do not waste the effort. Use your time methodically, on items and goals that you honestly desire.
Check where Capricorn falls in your chart if you need clarity on which area of your life may be highlighted right now. For Aries risings, this may relate to your public identity, profession, fame and ambition. Virgo risings might feel emphasis around children, creative desires, romance and sex.
Wherever Capricorn rears his horned head, pay attention to how you might bring more intention and structure to that area of your life. Maybe you just need to sit down and reflect on whether your actions are consistent with the things you truly want. Hear Daddy Cap when he says “If you want something different, you have to move differently. Starting right now.”
